What's next after No Kings

Congratulations, folks - the No Kings demonstration and march in Seattle drew one of the largest crowds in the city's history, with more than 700,000 people in attendance.

Two national events are on the July calendar -- local details to come:

Free America Weekend July 4. From the Women's March organizers: "We invite communities to create their own Free America events—rallies, marches, block parties, banner drops, street parades, art builds, backyard BBQs, dance protests, and more. Your freedom. Your people. Your rebellion."
Good Trouble Lives On July 17. "Coined by civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis, 'Good Trouble' is the action of coming together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change." Stay tuned for more information about what's planned for Seattle.

June 25, ICE Out of Our Workplaces, 4:30 p.m. at the Jackson Federal Building on 2nd Ave. Hosted by Federal Unionists Network.
June 27, Trans Pride Night at Volunteer Park, 5 p.m.
July 4, Free America Weekend
July 17, Good Trouble - still in the planning stages, but this looks like the next mass event.

Phinneywood Rising's bannering project: July 15 and 21, August 12 and 18, Sept. 9 and 15. Sign up in advance here. Meet at the northern pedestrian overpass on Aurora Avenue, just south of the Green Lake exit, at 5 p.m.

Mondays

Due Process - Bring Them Back! Noon - 1:30 p.m., at the Consulate of El Salvador, 615 2nd Ave. (Near the intersection of Second Avenue and Cherry). This is a local, ongoing Indivisible event to demonstrate opposition to Trump's illegal abductions and deportations, More info here

Tuesdays

The very effective Tesla Takedown actions are happening Tuesdays and Saturdays, generally 4:15 - 5:45 p.m.

Beyond Seattle

Wednesdays, 4-5pm: Starlink/SpaceX protests at Starlink/SpaceX buildings on the Eastside (intersection of NE Novelty Hill Rd & Redmond Ridge Dr. N.E.) Organized by Indivisible. Here’s a story from the Seattle Times about these growing protests.

Calls, Boycotts, Mutual Aid

This petition calls on T-Mobile to cancel its contracts with Elon Musk's Starlink.

Use the app 5calls, which provides a script and phone numbers for a wide range of issues. Calling is the best way to influence your congressperson, or pass along kudos, because it’s immediate and hard for your representative to ignore. If you don’t want to use their app, read their FAQ on how to make your call more effective.

Mutual aid event: Find out what you can do if there's ever a massive power outage in our region. Next event: June 22 noon to 4 p.m. at Maple Leaf Park, 1020 NE 82nd St. No need to RSVP or bring anything.

Little Free Pantry - Give or take some food at the Presbyterian Church @ 70th & Phinney, or between 78th & 79th on Dayton (looks like a Little Free Library). Food banks are low right now, and the need is high - please consider providing food for your neighbors.

Don't buy a Tesla

Alternatives to Boycotting:
Buy local, buy from a retailer that has committed to staying the DEI course (Costco often comes up), use Buy Nothing Groups, barter or trade with neighbors, friends, and family, or don’t buy anything at all (as able). Also try the e-commerce site Little Blue Cart, which "connects conscious consumers with purpose-driven businesses."
